CCC-E Conducts Training on Climate Finance: Political Economy and Technical Issues

December 29, 2025 – Ethiopia

The Consortium for Climate Change Ethiopia (CCC-E) successfully conducted a training on Climate Finance: Political Economy and Technical Issues, emphasizing that climate finance goes beyond technical mechanisms and is deeply influenced by broader policy, governance structures, and institutional dynamics.

During the training, participants explored the political and economic dimensions of climate finance, understanding how national priorities, budgets, and governance influence access to and utilization of climate resources. Discussions also focused on domestic resource mobilization and the integration of climate finance into national development planning. Participants received an overview of global climate finance mechanisms, including international funds and initiatives, and examined their relevance to Ethiopia’s climate action agenda. Practical sessions allowed participants to explore the linkages between international finance frameworks and national policies, identifying opportunities and challenges in aligning global and national systems. The training also emphasized inclusive decision-making processes, stressing the importance of engaging multiple stakeholders in planning and allocating climate finance to ensure equitable and effective outcomes.

Throughout the sessions, participants actively engaged in discussions, case studies, and exercises aimed at strengthening understanding of climate finance systems, improving policy alignment, and supporting evidence-based decision-making. By the conclusion of the training, participants had gained a clearer understanding of how to leverage climate finance for nationally grounded, effective, and inclusive climate action, while CCC-E reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ethiopia’s efforts in building a resilient and sustainable climate finance system.
