History of CCC-E

The Consortium for Climate Change-Ethiopia (CCC-E) was first conceived in 2009 as a loose network of CSOs under the name Ethiopian Civil Society Network on Climate Change (ECSNCC). The informal network stayed inactive for three years (2012-2014) and in December 2014, it was legally registered as CCC-E with the then Federal Charities and Societies Agency (ChSA) as an Ethiopian Resident and Foreign Charity Consortium.

In 2019, following the entry into force of a new Civil Societies Proclamation No: 1113/2019, CCCE was re-registered by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO) as a local organization bearing registration number 3355.

Re-vitalization of the hibernated/inactive network and the legalization process of CCC-E would have been unbearable without the generous and unremitted technical and financial support of the The Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) is the largest consortium of more than 2000 organizations from 54 African countries that brings together a diverse membership drawn from various constituencies.

CCC-E is a Designated National Platform (DNP) of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) in Ethiopia. Currently CCC-E has more than forty member organizations (national and international NGOs and CBOs) legally registered in Ethiopia and working on issues related to environment, climate change and management of natural resources. [Forum for Environment (FfE) is one of the founding members and has hosted the network since its inception]
